Margarita Larios, a native of Atlixco, Puebla has lived in New York for over 20 years. Every year she makes hundreds of pan de muertos for her community to honored those who have died in her family and her larger family, whether by natural causes, war, crossing the border, or as one of the murdered in Ciudad Juarez.

This bread is covered by a cross in the shapes of bones.
